Script

The script is a key tool in creating the narrative of the show. The script is used to show the actors within a production what the writer envisioned when writing the show. The script instructs the actors what to say and how to behave, all of which greatly affect the final product immensely. The script is the main tool for constructing the narrative of a programme.

Shot list

The shot list acts as a 'checklist' for shots within a segment. It allowed us to make sure that we had successfully filmed all of the required shots. This proved useful as it meant we did forget to films any shots, and produced our segment, how we intended it.

Call sheet

The call sheet's purpose is to inform cast and crew of the filming location, and other requirements of the production, such as refreshments, and nearest hospital. This was useful as in providing all members of cast and crew with a call sheet, all were informed of essential information, such as the call time, ensuring that everyone was there on time.

Website layout diagram

The background image will be a repeated tile image of a garage door. Similar to what the E4 Misfits website.

The header image will be a screen grab from the programme an also thumbnail for YouTube video

These will be links to the social networking sites for our programme, they will be hyperlinked

This diagram was helpful to the production of the website, as it gave us somewhat of a guideline to follow when producing the website. This was achieved as it was constructed when viewing other existing websites, so in creating the diagram we were able to create a brief summary of what we intended to create for each page of the website. This acted much like the storyboard did for the segment.

Font tests for website

These would be appropriate fonts for our website as they have somewhat of a connotation of distress (due to the weathered look that is present throughout them), which is indeed a key theme within our programme. \furthermore, some of the fonts have a denotative appearance of being mismatched  as if they where assembled in a state of urgency. As well as connoting danger and excitement in our programme, any of these fonts would suit our programme, as they comply with the themes of our porgramme

Website photography schedule

We did not require a schedule for our website as the images that we used for our website were stills taken from the video that we produced

Test shot

This test shot proved useful. it was useful as it gave us a good amount of practice with the equipment. This helped us, as, as well as getting used to using the equipment, we were able to receive feedback on our use of equipment, so we could produce the best quality product possible.

Misfits website flowchart

This is not an exhaustive diagram of the misfits website

This diagram allowed us to identify some of the different pages that are typically on websites for TV shows. This factor was made more relevant, given that the chosen example show (misfits) is both broadcaster by the same company (E4) and of the same genre of our show (science fiction drama). This allowed us to choose what would be the best pages to include on our website, ultimately allowing us to create the best website possible.

Location Recce

This document allowed to consider all aspects that could hinder are filming, which in turn allowed us to determine whether filming at our chosen location was appropriate for the chosen date. This helped our production as we could determine that filming was appropriate, allowing us to go ahead with filming.

Shooting Schedule

Post production: 8th January- 1st March
Website production: 8th January-1st March

The shooting schedule, much like the call sheet gave a summary of the times and location of shooting. however this was slightly more detailed than the call sheet, including crew and cast members, and equipment needed. This was useful as it allowed us to make sure we were in keeping with our set schedule, to make sure we accomplished everything that we required to. This shooting schedule is apllicable to both myself as an indivdual and my group.

Costume Mood board

We intend to choose these types of costumes due to the nature and theme of our program. We have  chosen to have our characters within the show in winter clothing as winter is the time in which our programme is set, which was chosen as it connotes a more gritty and harsh tone for our programme, which was our intended effect. We intend to have dark and plain colours for the costumes of our characters  as it firstly detracts attention from clothing, as the intention is to be kept on the narrative of the programme other than what the characters where wearing. The denotation of these plain clothes also plays into the bleak aesthetic of the programme.

Furthermore, the dark clothing also again incorporates within our theme of a harsh gritty drama. We observed from the research of other existing products of the same genre that dark coloured clothing was somewhat conventional. Finally, the clothes that the characters are to wear, would be considered somewhat practical, an aspect that we consider essential to the programme, as it is set in a post apocalypse scenario, in which stylish clothing would logically be cast aside. This type of clothing in this situation holds the connotation of realism more so, which makes the programme seem more realistic  This immerses the audience more within the narrative.

This document was useful as it allowed us to determine what kind of costumes we wanted the actors to wear. This allowed greater consideration of the type of connotations that we wanted to communicate with the audiece, through the costumes. Finally it allowed us to choose costumes that would reflect the genre of the show.
