Costume Mood board

We intend to choose these types of costumes due to the nature and theme of our program. We have  chosen to have our characters within the show in winter clothing as winter is the time in which our programme is set, which was chosen as it connotes a more gritty and harsh tone for our programme, which was our intended effect. We intend to have dark and plain colours for the costumes of our characters  as it firstly detracts attention from clothing, as the intention is to be kept on the narrative of the programme other than what the characters where wearing. The denotation of these plain clothes also plays into the bleak aesthetic of the programme.

Furthermore, the dark clothing also again incorporates within our theme of a harsh gritty drama. We observed from the research of other existing products of the same genre that dark coloured clothing was somewhat conventional. Finally, the clothes that the characters are to wear, would be considered somewhat practical, an aspect that we consider essential to the programme, as it is set in a post apocalypse scenario, in which stylish clothing would logically be cast aside. This type of clothing in this situation holds the connotation of realism more so, which makes the programme seem more realistic  This immerses the audience more within the narrative.

Document created by: Jake Hashdi

This document was useful as it allowed us to determine what kind of costumes we wanted the actors to wear. This allowed greater consideration of the type of connotations that we wanted to communicate with the audiece, through the costumes. Finally it allowed us to choose costumes that would reflect the genre of the show.
